How to play Sammich
Each day there’s a word on top and a word on the bottom, like BEACH and DESERT. They’re the bread.
Find the word that goes in the middle: one that relates to both words. You get 3 tries, and your best sammich counts.
How we score your sammich
An AI language model has read billions of sentences, so it knows which words go together. We use it to check how related your word is to the top word and to the bottom word, from 0 to 100.
A sammich is only as good as its weaker side, so your score is the lower of the two. For beach and desert, sand scores beach 95 and desert 95, so 95: perfectly balanced. Waves scores beach 90 and desert 10, so 10: all beach. Each day’s best filling scores 100.
What doesn’t count
You can’t use either of today’s words or forms of them (volcanoes, volcanic). Words that mean almost the same as one side are too close. Rejected words never use up a try.
